I understand oozing at the staple line can be a concern given the risk that it may lead to more serious bleeding and complications. As access can be a challenge addressing those complications can be difficult. Therefore, it is important to choose a stapling device proven to reduce intra-operative bleeding and post operative complications. The powered vascular stapler has been demonstrated to do both of these things with a study by Miller et al (2018) demonstrating that the PVS significantly reduces hemostasis-related complications, including bleeding and transfusions by 27% compared to manual staplers. This reduction translated to a shorter length of stay (4.9 vs. 5.9 days) and lower overall hospital costs, making it both a clinical and economic advantage.1 The powered stapling technology offers controlled, consistent compression, minimizing the risk of vessel trauma and associated bleeding. With advanced features like its narrower anvil and 50 degrees of articulation in any direction, the ECHELON FLEX™ provides excellent visibility in tight thoracic spaces, further enhancing control and reducing the risk of unintended tissue damage. For surgeons focused on improving patient outcomes while managing intra-operative bleeding, the ECHELON FLEX™ Powered Vascular Stapler offers a proven, efficient solution that maintains stable staple formation, even on delicate, thin-walled pulmonary vessels.
